FlashFiction - Suzy

FlashFiction - Suzy

I was flying my nightly patrol over the United States when I first met Suzy. It was new moon on that starlit night and I was enjoying the feel of the ocean breeze flapping my cape against my legs as I listened for signs of trouble. Suddenly, I heard a scream coming from the light house.

I quickly swooped down when my telescopic vision saw her hanging from the light house railing. I grabbed her in my arms and she clung tightly to my neck. I flew up and over the rail and set her down to safety. She introduced herself.

"Hi, Superman. I'm Suzy. Thanks for saving me. I guess I was a little dizzy."

"No problem, ma'am," I said.

As I was about to fly back off and resume my patrol, she offered me a cigarette. Being mesmerized by the feel of her buxom breasts as I had held her, I thought, "What's the harm? After all, I'm Superman. A little smoke isn't going to harm me."

I gently took the cigarette from her outstretched hand and lit it with my heat vision. The cigarette smelled a little funny, but she told me that it was imported tobacco, so I ignored it. She told me to hold the smoke after I inhaled it then pass it to her. Strange request, it seemed.

I did as Suzy said and found something strange. Even my super lungs couldn't contain smoke. I let it out with a cough that blew her hair back and she giggled. She inhaled the strange smelling cigarette and held it and passed it back to me. Suddenly, she coughed, too.

"Go on. Take another drag, she said, so I did."

A few minutes later, we were both laughing. I was feeling really strange, so I got her phone number and told her I needed to resume my patrol.

"Up, up, and away," I said as I took off into the sky waving at Suzy and she waving at me.

I was really starting to feel funny now. I flew past a large church and ran into the bell tower causing a huge CRASH CLANG CLANG CLANG. I did the best I could to patch it up quickly before anyone got there then decided I should head back home.

Up, up, and away, into the air again, this time deciding to fly very slow so no one would notice. As I arrived back at the Kent farm, I crashed into the corn silo, knocking it to the ground. Hurriedly, I cut down some trees with my heat vision, almost causing a forest fire which I then had to blow out with my super breath. I carved the trees into supports for the silo and righted it again.

It was then that I realized I no longer lived on the Kent Farm, but Metropolis. I started laughing and laughing and laughed so loud that I woke up the neighbors 10 miles away. Boy was my face red.

What the heck kind of imported tobacco was that, anyway?

Bound Forever - UNITED FRIENDS CHALLENGE #57

Wrath's Challenge

"Tell me you love me."

Bound Forever

Together were our two hearts bound
It's irrefutable
And though you try to run from me
You can't resist the pull
I feel your spirit visit me
And fill me through and through
And though you will not tell the truth
I know you feel me, too
Whatever distance separates
Will never be enough
Although you tried to hide it
You did expose your bluff
And though our lovers come and go
Our hearts are bound throughout
Our spirits have become as one
Of that I have no doubt
I know that when my life is done
Together we will be
And then we both shall live as one
Throughout eternity
And while I let you wander free
And try not to pursue
From you, three words I long to hear
Are the words, "I love you."

The Child Within - United Friends Challenge #60

UNITED FRIENDS CHALLENGE #60

Mysticalmistress' Challenge

write about the child within each of us.

The Child Within

In each of us a small child lives

Wide eyed and full of wonder

Seeing things we cannot see

That adults put asunder

Sometimes children, though, do have

Unre-a-listic fears

Of things that they don't understand

And this brings them to tears

Sometimes they're cruel to other folks

Because of some silly pride

Even the shadows they sometimes fear

So they will just run and hide

When the child who's deep inside

brings out your pride and fears

Reach deep inside with loving arms

And wipe away childish tears

Let the child know that you're an adult

And you'll keep it safe and warm

And that you're now strong and will protect

The child from any harm

Once you've done this and done it well

Very soon you will see

The wide-eyed world of wonder

That was meant for you and me

The Man In the Mirror - UNITED FRIENDS CHALLENGE #118

Rjamp's Challenge

Write a short story or poem on your inner weakness (or inner demons). Using this statment to start it...
I look in the mirror and I see ....

The Man In the Mirror

When I was young
I took a look
And what there did I see?

I saw things that
I didn't like
Some things inside of me

I then resolved
To make things right
To change from the inside

Now I'm always
Who I am
And never need to hide

If you don't like
The man you see
When you look at me

Perhaps you need
To take a look
At what's inside of thee

For when I gaze
In silvered glass
I'm pleased at what I see

For now the man
I truly am
Is staring back at me

“Strawberry” by Cal Jennings in #2 Pencil

My Darling

What love has such a tender heart

And hair as red as fire

With skin so pure and porcelain

Has kindled my desire?

Thou hast shown me trust and faith

Moreso than any other

Our talents matching markedly

How could I want another?

'Twas listening to Beatles' song

That dreams of you appeared

But when you looked into my eyes

It was to be revered

So let us make the music

For all the world to sing

Walking arm in arm through life

True love to Earth we'll bring

Tribute to Michael Jackson, Humanitarian

Photobucket

A Tribute to Humanitarian Michael Jackson

Photobucket

I recorded this on SingSnap and allowed duets:

We Are the World

http://www.singsnap.com/snap/r/b7cd885d

If you set "Allow Duets" to yes, other people can join in on the recording.

I re-recorded it with me just singing one segment as in the original and let each other person fill in a segment as well as it was done in the original.  I think this would be a great way to pay tribute to the many fine humanitarian acts that Michael Jackson did in his life.

Here is a list of some of the charities:

Here are a few more:

http://www.looktothestars.org/celebrity/113-michael-jackson

This is a tribute to Michael Jackson and the wonderful humanitarian things he did in his lifetime. In spite of all the bad publicity, he was a good man who did much to help mankind.

I sang the first segment as it was done on the original airing:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUaneqQxvfM

I saved it with "Allow Duets" set to "Yes." If you will do a segment and save it the same way, someone else can sing the next segment (the segment after yours) until the whole song is completed. I would like to have as many people involved as possible.

It would be nice for some people to fill in the harmonies as well as done in the original.

When you've recorded your segment, please send me the link at:

http://www.singsnap.com/snap/profile/message/b11ff70

(Cal-el)

Also, please include the message above in your comment so others who add their segment will have the info and be able to send it back to me.

Tips:

When you mix the song, be sure to check it and be sure the timing is right on your segment. Don't mix your voice louder than the other voices. Try to make it blend together. This is a cooperative effort, not a competition. It doesn't matter how well you sing. Just do your best and let's do something wonderful for the world.

Love, Hope, Peace, & Christ Is With Us All,

Cal-el
