THE VIOLIN TUNER

THE VIOLIN TUNER

A rich man finally bought the Stradivarius violin that he had been pursuing and wanted it to be perfectly tuned.

He asked around, and was told that Earl Opporknockity was the best violin tuner in the world. The man called Earl and asked his price. It was $1,000,000.00, but the rich man wanted the best and hired him to tune his Stradivarius.

Earl had a perfect pitch and a deft touch, and did a wonderful job tuning the Stradivarius. The man was very pleased as he heard the wonderful music coming from the violin as he played.

When he was finished playing, the rich man placed the Stradivarius on the fireplace mantle and it slipped off, so he called Earl, and asked him to come work his magic on the Stradivarius again.

To the man's surprise, Earl refused, saying "Sorry, I can't accept the job."

"Why not?" the man wanted to know. "I'll pay you twice as much as last time if you'll just come tune my piano."

"Haven't you heard?" Earl asked, "Opporknockity tunes but once."
